The Riverbend Café

For most Port Albernians alive today the Riverbend Store has long been a fixture on Hwy 4. A little green and white thread woven deep into the fabric of the community. Built in 1936 the Riverbend began a journey that has lasted generations. Providing a menu of items largely unchanged over the decades the Riverbend has remained family-owned and operated selling groceries, basic fishing/camping amenities, submarine sandwiches, ice-cream and candy. Lots of candy. Now known as the Riverbend Café & General Store, husband and wife team, Chris and Wish, restored the iconic building and kept with tradition by selling a little bit of everything, but through a hyper-local lens. Offering fresh baked goods, mouth-water dips and take-home meals by local Wildflower Café, pulling award winning Fernwood coffee and hosting a carefully curated selection of makers, crafters, artists and eclectic weirdos from across Vancouver Island the Riverbend Café is destine to be an Island Good champion.
