In this episode of Road to Recovery with Douglas Magazine, CHEK’s Jasmine Bala sits down with Suzanne Hedges, the relationship and business development manager at Island Good.
Island Good, an initiative of the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance, is a brand that helps shoppers easily identify local products. If a product has the Island Good symbol on it, that means it was produced locally on the Island.
The program launched in Spring 2018, with a campaign aimed at seeing if people would choose to buy products created on the Island over others, if they were marked as locally made.
What Island Good discovered was local products at participating grocery sales rose about 16 per cent.
Now they’re expanding the program beyond food, to anything made or produced on the Island.
