Why Buy Island Good?
News
Publish Date:

04/03/2025

With U.S. tariffs and more consumers looking to support local, Island Good makes it easier than ever to find locally made products from Vancouver Island and the surrounding rural islands. Keeping our dollars close to home strengthens our economy, benefits the environment, and fosters social good.

Buying local means more than just great products—it supports businesses that make a difference. Nikkei Ramen-ya provides living wages, Cowichan Station Creamery sources milk from graze-fed cows, and Timber Tiles offers sustainably harvested, Indigenous-owned wood products.

And local doesn’t have to mean expensive! For example Yeshi Dressing, Ed’s Soup Shack, Farmer Ben’s eggs, and Tree Island Yogurt are competitively priced alongside national brands, making it easy to choose Island Good.

As Paul Gill of Sutra Sauces says, “Everyone is happy here, and when you make products with happiness, that energy transpires into the goods.”

From food and beauty products to pet food and sustainable goods, Island Good has something for everyone. Visit islandgood.ca/ to browse local producers, find retailers, and start shopping Island Good today!

What’s your favourite part about sourcing or creating right here on the Island?

The Island Community is so great at supporting local business. When it comes to sourcing, selling or shopping often we look to far away when everything is “right under our nose” here on the Island. I love that for the size of our Island we have so many amazing products and businesses. I love to encourage others to look on the Island!
