Barb DeRousie Art

About Barb DeRousie Art:
Barb DeRousie was born and raised on Vancouver Island, her father being a lighthouse keeper, lived on lighthouses along the coast of the island from Cape Scott to Chatham Point (north of Campbell River). To this day, it is the smells and sights of the coastal beaches that bring Barb back to her roots. Barb DeRousie Art is a sole proprietor home-based business providing fine art paintings, reproductions, art cards (printed and handmade), and “wearable art” (painted jewelry, and scarves, masks and tote bags made from Barb’s original abstract artwork). Barb also contributes to the artists community by hosting weekly art classes via Meetup.com and individual art coaching for beginners. Her latest body of work, that she refers to as “The Turning Point”, includes mixed media paintings that she started creating in 2020 during and after taking Nicholas Wilton’s art course called the Creative Visionary Program, an intensive 12 week course where Barb broke away from painting Watercolour for the first time. Most of these paintings can be seen in person by appointment at her studio in Colwood, in local galleries or online. Aside from her own artist website (www.barbderousie.com), you can also find Barb in the Federation of Canadian Artists website (www.artists.ca), the Coast Collective Art Society site (www.coastcollective.ca), the Legaleriste website (www.legaleriste.com/barb.derousie.art) and Saatchiart (www.saatchiart.com/barb.derousie.art). Barb gratefully continues her journey of exploration and discovery through the process of art making and encourages others to find their true artistic voice through painting as well.
