A Summer of Island Good Celebrations

It has been a pack-filled Island Good summer and the second annual Island Good Market Day and Island Good Days were a resounding success!

On June 17th we kicked off the summer with our second annual Island Good Market Day! Hosted by Island Good Arbutus Meadows Farms, 34 of our vendors welcomed just under 1000 customers! The Island Good team closed out the day by gifting an Island Good basket worth up to $400 full of amazing donations from the participating Island Good businesses!

Following the market, the celebrations continued from June 19th to the 25th as nine cities and regions across Vancouver Island proclaimed the week as Island Good Days! The ‘Island Good Days’ proclamations from Campbell RiverComox Valley Regional DistrictDuncanEsquimaltLadysmithLangfordNanaimoPort Alberni and Victoria truly showed the commitment these regions have for local producers and Island Good. Along with the support of cities and regions our retail members, Country Grocer, and Healthyway Natural Foods hosted spotlights and demos with some of the Island Good producers. The response was overwhelming, with Yeshi Dressing selling out at Country Grocer on Bowen Road in Nanaimo, and Level Ground Coffee running out of samples at Royal Oak Victoria. Special thanks go to Urban Grocer, Quality Foods, and Tru Value Foods for hosting sales and featuring your favorite Island Good products throughout the week.

The festivities continued and on Wednesday July 19th Pepper’s Market hosted their annual Local Island Showcase with 35 local vendors attending. Pepper’s had live music, loads of samples, a BBQ, and local gift bag giveaways. The event went off without a hitch once again demonstrating the unwavering support of our Island Good retailers for local producers and growers!

As we reflect on these summer’s events, it is evident that the Island Good initiative continues to thrive. Thanks to our partners, businesses, and customers for their continued support, which is instrumental in the success of the initiative.
